Network Coding Aware User Plane for Mobile Networks

This paper "Network Coding Aware User Plane for Mobile Networks" highlights an important problem which RLNC can address. An average 1% loss ratio in the backhaul creates 59.44% additional total transmission time compared to GTP-U. Network coding can improve this inefficiency. Actually, using a tuneable code which adapts to the expected packet loss rate you can achieve the minimum transmission time.
